WE ARE ALWAYS TOLD THAT BEST PRACTICE INVOLVES BEING REFLECTIVE. REFLECTIVE PRACTICE IS VITAL TO HELP US MAKE IMPROVEMENTS IN OUR LIVES.
What went well, what did not work so well and how can we improve for next time. How can you know how much you have achieved as a person if you do not reflect? There are times in life when we can feel completely overwhelmed, feeling that we do not have the skills needed to face the challenges in front of us. Yet through reflective practice we can take stock and see just how far we have come.
We can learn to appreciate our journey and how past events have taught us lessons and given us skills that can be drawn upon to face new challenges. It is with reflective practice that we can set ourselves new goals to aim for. Living in a world that is designed to give instant gratification for the majority of activities it can be hard to persevere with a task that requires more patience and nurturing. Taking stock of all the achievements previously achieved gives the mind a chance to process what can be accomplished. This helps to build a strong sense of self worth, which in turn will create a better state of mind and positive wellbeing.
Mental health is so important; everyone should take responsibility for their own mental health. Reflective practice is a wonderful way to keep assessing your own mental health. Have you managed to identify triggers for stress? If so, on reflection what can be done differently to make sure that you reduce these triggers. Reflect upon what you need to be the best version of you, take time to create an optimum environment, it is ok to not be ok.
Reflective and celebrate all your successes, take time to remind yourself what an amazing job you are doing and just how far you have come.
